The Snow Reporters
The snow reporters start work at 5am to provide you the daily report. Ski patrol from each of the resorts call through with updates on the snowfall, snowdepths, weather, snow conditions, grooming reports and lift operations. The Victorian Snow Report is issued via email at 6am daily throughout the season. If the weather conditions change significantly a second report will be issued later in the day. The reporters provide updates to thirty radio stations across Australia, morning and afternoon. Click on the radio link to find the report in your area.
Maureen Gearon has been the full time snow reporter since 2003 moving around between the ten Victorian resorts. Each resort holds something special to her. She has a media and communications background and spent a number of years living and travelling overseas. Rock climbing, skiing and hiking were her big passions but she’s finding she only has time to ski now...but that’s okay…
Carol Binder fills the part time role of the Victorian Snow Reporting Service after being full time reporter from 1995 – 2001. Originally from Melbourne, Carol shifted to Bright after finding “my place” on this earth with her passion for snow-boarding, cross country skiing and her summer sport of hang gliding. Like Maureen, Carol has thorough hands-on knowledge of all Victorian resorts after revolving from resort to resort delivering accurate and timely snow information. After living and travelling in Europe, South America and spending much time in Asia, Carol has returned to Bright and back to snow reporting refreshed and invigorated.
Look out for the snow reporters in their Holden Captiva the next time you’re visiting the resorts and have a chat.
