St Falls     4 July, 2008, 11:44 am
I've had a huge week and a lot to catch up on. Saturday I was at Hotham, Sunday Falls Creek, Monday and Tuesday Lake Mountain, Wednesday and Thursday Mt Baw Baw and this morning I'm heading to Walhalla for lunch then Melbourne for two days.

Goodness...

This is a pic of the new St Falls development. It's looking fantastic. The new Apres Vous store is now open there - it is a beautiful looking shop with some very nice clothes and ski and snowboard gear etc.

It's changing the face of the resort, something was needed in this area to jazz things up and the architecture is stunning.

The slopes may be empty but the bars are full     28 June, 2008, 11:00 am
Staff and guests have been keeping busy in the evenings around the resorts enjoying the restaurants and bars. This week I went to the Last Run bar with a few of the Hotham patrollers. Their place mats are colouring-in sheets and there are coloured pencils on each table so when we got bored with each other's company we used our creative skills instead.

Thursday night I went to the General and saw Dallas Frasca perform. What a voice! Before she played, a fantastic singer, guitarist and harmonica player performed who 'daylights' as a lift operator. He will be playing weekly through the season is worth checking out. Dallas is heading over to play at the Man at Falls Creek tonight.

And...sunshine this morning about the mountains. Beautiful sunrise and clear skies. BUT a series of cold fronts are heading our way and we should see snowfalls early and mid next week.

It snowed!     26 June, 2008, 05:51 pm
Well only 3cms (around Hotham, Falls Creek and Mt Buller) but we woke to white and can't be bad. It's very cold today with temperatures sitting around minus 2 to minus 3 degrees and the winds have eased. There are snow flurries on and off during the day. .

This is a photo in Davenport village at Hotham at about 11am.

Bogan Bingo     26 June, 2008, 05:41 pm
So I drove up to Hotham on Sunday night. Like the other resorts, some of the staff are going a little crazy waiting for the snow to come. BUT there is plenty going on in the evenings and Monday evening I tested the waters with my first bogan bingo experience. I had to use my phone camera so this pic is a little dark.

These guys come up from Melbourne every two weeks to put on the bogan bingo show at Swindlers and it seems to be taking off. People are dressing in bogan ensembles and the numbers are being called out with some interesting expressions. Not the usual 'lucky for some' 13 or '66 - clickety click' - in fact they're kind of rude and I can't repeat them here.

In between games there were air guitar competitions. Not a bad night. If you're up here when it's on it's worth checking out.

The Red Room     20 June, 2008, 10:50 am
Last night at Falls I went to the opening of the revamped Red Room at the Man hotel. They've done a terrific job. The room looks fabulous and the cocktails were great. Comfy chairs and coffee tables with the grand piano in the corner.

This is a bad photo of Jane Brine and myself. The view-finder of my camera isn't working so it's guess work. I was there early before the action really started. My 5.30am starts make me kind of dull and I'm usually in bed by 9pm. But I heard a great night was had by all.
