Lake Mountain Alpine Resort is less than a two hour drive from most parts of Melbourne. Don’t forget your camera to capture memories of your children playing in the snow, building a snowman or tobogganing down one of the six toboggan slopes. After the easy but spectacular drive up from Marysville you will step into a winter wonderland. If you pick a day after fresh snow you will find white against the blackened trees from the fires with stunning bright green regrowth creates an amazing landscape.

Your visit to the snow at Lake Mountain will help this beautiful area and its wonderful people recover from the Black Saturday bushfires.

Lake Mountain’s world renowned ski school will get you into action in no time. Once you are confident on the ski’s there is over 35kms of cross country ski trails to explore. If skiing is not your thing grab a toboggan and try out our 6 toboggan slopes, all with different levels of ability, for those looking for a fast run try Koala Creek, and those looking for a smaller run maybe for the young kid’s, try Leadbeaters. There is something for everyone.

The visitor centre (which was untouched by the fire) has a full retail store, including all of your wet weather gear, stylish jackets, pants, beanies and gloves and a great choice of souvenir’s to take home to remember your trip to Lake Mountain. Full clothing, ski and equipment hire is also available in the same building. After a day exploring the trails or chasing the kids up and down the toboggan slopes you might be looking for somewhere to rest and have a nice hot drink or something to eat. Introduced to 2011 was the grand new building. Inside you will find the 700 seat restaurant,  large toilet and ablution block, ski school and ticket office, conference room facilities and plenty of room to spread out and relax.

Located in the visitor centre building is the colourful and enjoyable Kid’s Club Room. After either pre booking online or purchasing you ticket at the Ticket Office your children will be able to enjoy 3 hours of snow activities and have full access to the Kid’s Club Room, with movies playing throughout the day, Nintendo Wii and floor games, all supervised by trained Lake Mountain staff so that Mum and Dad can head out on the trails or take a ski lesson.

Introduced to 2011 was a variety of packages for all of the family to enjoy including, First Timers Experience, Ski Lesson Packages, Quad Bike Tours, Snow Mobile Tours, Fire and Ice Tour of the mountain and much more.

As Australia’s premier cross country skiing and snow play resort Lake Mountain does provide a very affordable and fun day out. It’s a winter playground.
